Beware of the person of one book

~ St. Thomas Aquinas

All that's missing in this picture is me, and a cup of tea.

Anyway. It's time to make a 2012 book list!
Yes, I'll be recycling a ton of titles from the old one. As unfortunate as it is to admit failure, it would be even sadder not to try again. :P So. Here we go:

- Great Expectations
- Sense and Sensibility
- Diary of St. Faustina
- Story of a Soul
- Age of Innocence
- Brideshead Revisited
- Joan of Arc
- The Four Loves
- Until We Have Faces
- Black as Night and Waking Rose
- The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (the half I haven't read, anyway)
- Emily of New Moon

And.. That's all I'll put down for now. A hundred other titles come to mind, but I'd better not over commit again. :P

Feliz Ano Nuevo!

Well. I know you thought this blog was dead... but I've decided to do a survey!! hooray!!!

Happy new year. :)
What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
College!! Which brought alot of new things with it. Such as rugby, fops, a concert, and trips into Pittsburgh.

What countries did you visit?
Ohio! ;P

What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A job... and a clue.

What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 25th I adventured to Steubenville. :)

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
A B+ in chemistry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you suffer illness or injury?
HEARTBREAK.
Kidding. But I crippled myself for a good two or three months... which was no fun at all.

What was the best thing you bought?
Two pairs of steubie sweatpants. Most comfortable piece of clothing I own. Sure they shed black fuzz like, crazy, but we all have our faults....

Where did most of your money go?
Hahaha I had precious little to begin with. So it didn't really go anywhere. But I paid for college with alot of money I DON'T have. o.o
yet.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
March for Life (as always), graduation, our trip to California!! and college...

What song will always remind you of 2011?
Getting into You, Gravity Happens (and basically everything on that Kate Voegele album), Emily, Rhythm of Love, Every Little Prison hahaha...

Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Much, much happier.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
Read, write, and take risks.

What do you wish you'd done less of?

Make excuses... and facebook.

How will you be spending New Years?
Hmm. Either at a friend's or at home.. I haven't decided yet.

What was your favorite TV program?

Yeah.. I don't watch it. :p

What was the best book you read?
Probably the Screwtape Letters. Or Moby Dick. But there were so many others!! Rebecca hit me pretty deeply and Dorian Grey made me want to scream.

What was your greatest musical discovery?

Spotify!! :p

What was your favorite film of this year?
Ummmm I can't even remember the last time I went to see a movie. :P What DID come out this year???

What did you get on your birthday, and how old were you?
I am 19 (and counting). I got socks!!!! And a penny colored cell phone that I'm still learning how to use.........

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Leather pants, raccoon pelts and a mohawk!!
Well. Not really. I'm usually wearing jeans and some kind of sweater or sweatshirt. I'm trying to wear more skirts though... so I enforce them on Sundays and try to have at least one "fashionable" day during the week. :p

What kept you sane?
Having a chapel downstairs and an unfortunate amount of chocolate..

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hahaha my answer last year was Ms. Searle. And honestly... that hasn't changed.

Who was the best new person you met?
That's a terribly unfair question. There have been way, way too many of them. Between my own, dear little entourage to my "rebels" down the hall, to my fellow, suffering nursing majors... I'm constantly surrounded by the best new people. :p

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Boys are dumb! Get thee to a nunnery.

Remember, remember..

the fifth of November.

Umm. Happy belated Guy Fawkes day?

Oh nevermind. Just blowing some dust off the blog.

If you were looking for something profound, check here or here.

I think they balance each other out nicely. The former is kept by a graduate student at the JP II institute, she does a good job with commenting on pop culture without totally condemning the modern world. :) The young author of the latter attends Thomas Aquinas, which should say QUITE enough.

loljk. Its cute and full of good old-fashioned, homeschoolery, charm. So I enjoy it immensely.

Happy October!

I'd hate to skip out on blogging for an entire month so.. this is just to let you all know I still care. :P

Anyway. Read this.

A little over a month ago I made my first trip to the Steubenville Walmart with a friend and two car-possessing upperclassmen. The latter were two charming young ladies, very quick to offer all kinds of wisdom and wit. xP
And goodness, they're quite Catholic.

"I'm going for the pink lemonade."
"NO get that out of the cart. I need to check the container."
"Stoppit, that's my favorite flavor."
"Do you NOT know what month it is? Anything pink with a ribbon goes to Susan Komen and she is not getting my money. Or yours either. I don't approve of slaughtering children."
